NPF’S TEXAS CHARGE DISSOLVED; WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN 2018 SEASON

Texas State’s Bobcat Softball Stadium. With the team now dissolved, the Charge concludes its tenure with an all-time record of 59 wins and 89 losses, making only one playoff appearance in 2015. Over its brief history, the team had four head coaches, including Florida assistant Jennifer Rocha, who achieved the best season record with a 20-30 finish in 2016.

The dissolution of the Charge marks the second consecutive year an NPF franchise has exited the league, following the Pennsylvania Rebellion’s departure in 2017. Several players, including pitchers Delanie Gourley and Dallas Escobedo, were under contract through 2018 and beyond. However, according to an email from NPF Commissioner Cheri Kempf, players formerly signed to the Charge are now free agents.

The team’s social media profiles have been deactivated, and while their website remained live as of Thursday, no official statement has been released from the league or the team. Efforts to reach representatives for comments have been unsuccessful.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
